Photos From The Burial Of Late Paramount Ruler Of The Tiv People, Dr. Alfred Akawe Torkula (Live Updates)
All is set for the burial of the late paramount ruler of the Tiv people from Benue state.
The Tiv people in great numbers are in Gboko Benue state for the burial rites for the late monarch.
The speaker House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara too is around for the burial, Governor Samuel Ortom and his wife are already on their way to Gboko.
Former governor of Benue state, Dr. Gabriel Torwua Suswam has since arrived the JS Tarkaa Stadium, the venue of the interment.

Welcome address by CPC chairman, Brig. John Atom Kpera, he acknowledged the support of all, especially, Gov Samuel Ortom, and he said he enjoyed working with all members of CPC.
He also revealed that he died on the 22 November 2015.
As Brig. John Atom Kpera rtd ends his speech, the first son of the late monarch, Dr Terlumun Torkula, son of late Tor Tiv to read biography.
Late Alfred Akawe Torkula Biography.
Torkula was born on 10th July 1944.
His father was chief Torkula Amah of Mbadwem in Utyondo. He was the second child of his mother Nginkaa, the daughter of Tingir from Logo Local government Benue state.
He attended Native Authority Primary School from 1953 to 1958, completed his primary education at St. Therisa's Primary School Naka Benue state in 1959.
He proceeded to St Micheal Secondary school Aliede, still in Benue state. he studied there from 1960 to 1964. and completed his secondary eductaion at Kings college Lagos, 1965 to 1966.
Torkula proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, to read French in 1966 to 1971.
Career
He started work with the then Benue Plateau state in 1971 as an assistant Secretary in ministry of lands and survey, He was elected Tor Tiv on 14th January, 1991.
He has been Tor Tiv for 24,years, The longest serving since 1946 when Markir Dzakpe was made first Tor Tiv.
The reading of the bried biography of the late monarch has ended now, its time for the intoduction of family members, Meanwhile, the minister of Science and Technology, Ogbona Onu has just arrived.
All the family members are dressed in white, Tor Tiv married 6 wives but lost 1 to the hands of death in 1999, Princess Angela Terngu Torkula is the oldest and first daughter of the late Tor Tiv, All his children were 15 but one died.
Now its time for Old Boys Associations of his schools to speak. Dr Ochefu to speak for Aliade old boys while ABU alumni to speak next, Jack Gyado of set 1964 to speak on their behalf.
Many governors are represented by their deputies, The Gwnomgwom Jos , representative of Sultan of Sokoto to speak on behalf of All paramount chiefs.

The special adviser to the governor on Local government and chieftaincy affairs, Hon. Titus Zam who is a member of the CPC also gave his own speech.
Former governor Dr. Gabriel Torwua Suswam said "Once again i wish to Appreciate the Governor of Benue state for his role in the burial of the late Traditional monarch" ''Tor Tiv was a man of the people, After, here, are will willing to help the Tor Tivs family? I appreciate Ortom for giving the Tor Tiv a beffiting burial.
Governor of Plateau state Simon Lalong also spoke, meanwhile Kogi state governor Yahaha Bello just arrived.
Governor Sammuel Ortom is now delivering his speech, He mentioned the achievements of the late monarch. Akawe Torkula has been immortalized, the College of Advanced and Professional Studies CAPS, will be named after him, the governor said.

This lost is also personal, The Tor Tiv's son married my daughter., the governor concluded.
Tor Tiv to be buried in 30, minutes after service led by Benue state CAN president Bishop Nyiman Orkwgah. It's now time for men of God to their thing, Rev Pastor Thomas Tsav read Rev Chapter 7: 9 to 17 while Rev Tom Igyah gave a short message.
Pastor Ingyah said most people are concerned with the present world alone, They forget there is another world. After the burial all should consider the word of God in their world.
Listen to me king makers : anybody who buys the Tor Tiv stool with money will not have a succesful reign, if you manipulate to win Tor Tiv, you will die, anybody who wins through juju too will die soon - Tom Ingyah declares as he ends his speech.
The remains of the late monarch has now been taken to Abagu Gboko at the back of the Tor Tiv palace where he will be finally be buried.
