Ekiti people have again been called upon to make tree planting a priority in order to protect the environment.
Governor Ayodele Fayose gave the advice while flagging off tree planting at Apostle Babalola Memorial Secondary School, Efon Alaaye.
He said that the campaign was brought to schools in order to encourage students to appreciate the importance of tree planting.
Mr Fayose called on the forest guards and ministry of environment to curb illegal tree plantin. He also adviced d royal fathers and well meaning Ekiti people to supprt the project by planting trees at every opportunity.
In his welcome address, commissioner for Environment, Chief Bisi Kolawole said the tree planting campaign was geared towards mobilizing participation of schools, communities and private organizations in forest development.
The Governor later inspect the ongoing Efon Alaaye township dualization, residents appreciated the efforts of the Governor aimd at developing the town.
