President Buhari Is Eager To Come Back - Ortom

Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State today disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari was eager to return back to the country to resume work.
Governor Ortom stated this during  a chat with journalists at the Benue Peoples House after his return from his leave in London.

Governor Ortom who was one of the seven Governors that visited president Buhari in London last week revealed that the delegation from the Governors forum met  with the president, and discussed with him. He said the president particularly asked him of the security situation in Benue State.

He told journalists in MAKURDI, the Benue State capital that the president was eager to come back, but they told him not to be in a hurry, as the Acting President, Yemi Osibanjo is doing well.

He said President Buhari would return as soon as he gets the nod from his Doctors.

On the clamor for the restructuring of Nigeria, Governor Ortom said Nigerians have elected representatives in both chambers of the National Assembly, that cut across all ethnic groups and interest.

He said the call should not come from people with ulterior motives and quest for popularity. He called on the National Assembly to discuss it and subject it to public hearings to enable Nigerians make their inputs.

Responding to questions on the Benue State  Open – grazing prohibition and Ranches establishment law enacted by thr state, Governor Ortom said he has previously challenged anyone with a superior solution to  the herdsmen /farmers clashes, but none has been able to bring up any.

He maintained that the law is meant to protect both farmers and herders, and anyone who intends to rear cattle in the state must resort to ranching, and their are stiff penalties for those who rustle cattle.

He revealed that Mr president didn’t query the signing into law of the Open Grazing prohibition and Ranches establishment law,and even the cattle Breeders Association, Miyetti Allah agreed that ranching is the best solution, but only complained about the timing.

He debunked the insinuation that the law is targeting the fulani people. He said the law is for all animals, including pigs and goats, which are not reared by fulanis.
