Attorney General Jeff sessions is set to focus on White House leaks Friday, following the appointment of the new Chief of Staff John Kelly, according to Fox.
The retired General has his job cut out for him as one of his first tasks would be stopping information privy to the White House to the press. Former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski appeared on Fox & Friends Tuesday and said “If Reince Priebus couldn’t control those leaks … then he was the one who was ultimately responsible, and General Kelly was brought in to make sure those leaks do not continue”.In July, Republicans wrote a 24 page report with the Senate’s homeland security panel warning that the Trump administration faced an “alarming” amount of media leaks that posed a potential threat to national security.
Trump has lashed out publicly over the past few weeks expressing his “disappointment” with the attorney general via tweets, interviews and news conferences.
Trump slammed Sessions for not being tougher on leaks from the intelligence community last week. “I want the attorney general to be much tougher, I want the leaks from intelligence agencies, which are leaking like rarely have they ever leaked before, at a very important level. These are intelligence agencies we cannot have that happen”,Trump said.
