Trump Declares Emergency In Puerto Rico Over Hurricane Maria





In the wake of Hurricane Maria, President Trump Tuesday declared an emergency in Puerto Rico after the Hurricane made landfall.
The White House through a tweet wrote, “President Donald J. Trump Approves Puerto Rico Emergency Declaration”

The President through a statement from the White House authorised the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts.

According to the statement, the action will help alleviate the hardship and suffering that the emergency may inflict on the local population, and provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures and FEMA is authorised to identify, mobilise, and provide, at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.

The President however named Alejandro DeLaCampa as the Federal Coordinating Officer for Federal recovery operations in the affected areas.
