The Senate has recalled its former Majority Leader, Ali Ndume, that was placed on suspension eight months ago.
Ndume who represents Borno South in the chambers was suspended following the recommendation of the ethics and privileges committee of the Senate headed by Chris Anyanwu.
Ndume was suspended after he asked the Senate to investigate allegations of corruption leveled against Senate President Bukola Saraki and Dino Melaye in the media sometime in March this year.
After he was indicted by the committee, the Senate placed him on a six months suspension. However in September when the six months suspension elapsed, the Senate issued a statement extending the suspension to November, on the excuse of discounting holidays and weekends.
Senator Ndume then filed a lawsuit against the Senate before a Federal High Court in Abuja. Last week, the court nullified the extension of his suspension and asked that he be recalled.
This morning, deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu who presided over plenary, asked that Ndume resume work in the chambers tomorrow, November 15th.
