The Multi Purpose hall A and B of the University of Lagos on Saturday, may 2, 2015 hosted a collection of young entrepreneurs and change makers in Nigeria as the #YouthConnect2015 event converged various successful youngsters from different walks of life.
The event, which was tagged ‘Turning Pasion To Profit’, features articulate speakers from various professions
The memorable event was declared open with a brief charge by Prof Pat Utomi, who urged the youths on the need to develop a change-driven passion and zeal in all that they do.

He noted that the success of any man is not determined by his grammatical eloquence or a library full of certificates but a heart full of questions and a choice to learn.
In his words;
It is important that youth in this contemporary society ‘learn to learn’. It is important you identify that if you don’t know you can influence anything, people can’t follow you. Therefore, learn to build a habit of learning and a sense of service” he said
Every follower makes a good leader and the reward for leadership is immortality”. He concluded’.

He recalled those times in his life when he lived in a suburb of Lagos where fulfillment only ‘lives and dies in the mind’.
His swift ability to discern between the class and the classless groups in the society, with Lagos as a peculiar template gave him the drive to strive to succeed at all legal cost.
He narrated how his vision, passion and drive towards success got him to the prestigious stage he is at the moment.and encouraged the youth to do the same.
There were also emotionally touching success story of start ups, who were moderated by the MD/CEO SMILE, Bimpe Bangbose.
She invited four youngsters to the stage to share their life experience; the weaknesses, the strength and the drive that kept them pushing harder.
Bimpe stated the material need for youths to protect their hard earned integrity and the need to be able see opportunities to solve a problem in every challenges .
Mr Yinka Sanni, the CEO of Stanbic IBTC, who was also one of the chief speakers identified the need to be diligent in one’s passion and ambition to succeed as an entrepreneur. He advised that every youth should strive to be the change he wants to see in the country.

The convener, Olatunde Samson also spiced up the event with his success story as an ordinary computer trainer with one computer system and how he became one of the most influential entrepreneur in Africa.

Francis Njoku wrapped up the event with a soul-lifting challenge for the youth to go out and dare the impossible. He concluded his charge with a quote from Popular Daystar Pastor, Sam Adeyemi “If you drink garri on a physical realm, you are still safe, but by the time you begin to drink garri in your mind, then you’re gone”

The event was a success as it created a platform for the youths to get to know and ask question from their mentors.
