The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on sunday night declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governor Seriake Dickson as the winner of the just concluded governorship election in Bayelsa state.
The incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson defeated his closest rival, Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by a far margin of 48,148 votes to win the election, Dickson polled a total of 134,998 votes while Sylva polled 86,852 total votes.
The Returning Officer of the election, Prof. Zana Akpagbu said:
The result is coming after several election irregularites occured in Bayelsa which made both parties accusing each other of the crimes.
This followed the conclusion of the supplementary election held on Saturday, The initial election was held on December 5, 2015.
