Tragic: Oyo State House Of Assembly Member Killed By Gunmen Outside His Home





A member of the Oyo State House of Assembly identified as Gideon Aremu has been shot dead by three gunmen at his home on Friday night The Cable reports.

Gideon, who was a member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party representing the Orelope State Constituency, was said to have been trailed by the gunmen on a motorcycle as he was returning to his Alakia residence in Egbeda Local Government Area of the state. They shot him several times and took only his handset despite the fact that he had money on him. He was taken to the nearby Toun Hospital on Iwo Road, Ibadan, where he was confirmed dead.


Before his untimely demise, Aremu was the Chairman, Oyo State House of Assembly’s Committee on Information, Public Relations and Security.

Spokesman of the Oyo State Police Command, Adekunle Ajisebutu confirmed the assassination stated that officers have been deployed to apprehend the killers. He also assured that the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Leye Oyebade has ordered a discreet investigation into the matter, assuring that the culprits will be arrested.
