A fire which began at about 7pm last night at Ekpan Tankers Park near Warri Refinery in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has destroyed not less than fifty petroleum tankers Punch reports.
While it is yet unclear the exact cause of the fire, eye witnesses confirmed that the inferno was still raging at about 10am on Saturday. Men of the Delta State fire service and the Nigerian Gas Company fire department, WRPC and Chevron are battling hard to put out the fire as at time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, the incident has led to heavy gridlock along the express road due to a combination of the activity of fire fighters battling to salvage the other tankers and residents who fled their homes due to the inferno and have taken refuge along the road.
