Police Deploy Special Force To Zaki Biam, Other Flash Points





The police have deployed Police special tactical force to Zaki Biam and other troubled spots in Benue State to restore peace and order.

This deployment is coming after unknown gunmen killed dozens of people on March 20, 2017 at Zaki Biam.

According to a statement by the Force public relations officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the Force will be led by the commissioner of Police in charge of PMF, Force headquarters, Abuja and will be supervised by the deputy inspector general of Police, Department of Operations.

Moshood explained that the special force comprise of police mobile force, counter terrorism units, conventional police men, special anti-robbery squad, a detachment of EOD, police K9, police air wing and other under cover operatives.

He stated that the team will investigate and raid hideouts of the assailant based on intelligence.

He therefore, called on traditional rulers, opinion leaders, religious leaders and other relevant stakeholders to cooperate with the police to quickly bring the perpetrators of these heinous crimes to book.

The statement said “the inspector general of police IGP Ibrahim Idris is worried by the killings of innocent people by invading unknown gunmen at Zaki Biam in Benue State on 20th March 2017 and destruction of properties worth Millions and has deployed Police Special Tactical Force, comprising Police Mobile Force (PMF specially trained Anti Riot Policemen), Counter Terrorism Units, Conventional Policemen, Special Anti Robbery Squad, SIB, detachment of EOD, Police K9 (Sniffer Dogs Section), Police Air wing (Aerial Surveillance Helicopters) and other undercover operatives with their Headquarters in Zaki Biam, Ukum LGA, Benue State.
