The Nigeria Customs Service said it has discovered 57 assorted vehicles suspected to be smuggled in Omole Estate and Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
Comptroller, NCS, Federal Operations Unit, Zone A, Ikeja, Mohammed Garba, made this announcement on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said seven other assorted vehicles, mostly brand new, were also seized along Ijebu Ode expressway and Olorunda.
He said some of the vehicles include one bulletproof Lexus jeep, one bulletproof Toyota Landcruiser, nine Land Cruiser jeeps, five Toyota Camry, and others, all valued above N1.3bn.
“As I speak with you, nobody has come forward to claim ownership yet because we doubt if they have any Customs papers on the vehicles let alone End-User Certificate for the bulletproof cars,” he said.
He added that the legal department of the agency has been mandated to investigate the matter.
