Moblie Barracks Road Makurdi, the Benue State capital at the new layout there lies the remains of the over 70 victims of diabolic terrorist attacks on Benue communities, who are mass buried by the State Government. Amongst them is four years old Terkaa Sesugh; 8 years old suursha, eight months pregnant mother and 73 years old Igbudu.
It is a solemn day for Benue as quiet envelops the state capital with thousands dressed in mourning cloths to bid farewell to those who have been killed by Fulani herdsmen in furtherance of their threat to resist the anti-open grazing law enacted by the state. Engr. Hassan Badejo of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore in June last year called on Fulanis in Nigeria and abroad to converge on Benue once the anti-open grazing law takes effect in the Nigeria's Food Basket State. No action has been taken by the Federal Government in the face of the threats and Bishop Williams Avenya during a message at the funeral service said the Nigerian government has been late in responding to the situation.
It is a historic day for the state and as indicated, a black Thursday. 73 of Tiv people have been mass buried while scores of other dead bodies are yet to be recovered with scores of others been treated for various degrees of injuries.
Prayers were offered for the souls of those massacred, their families, other victims, government and the people of Benue State.
Benue deserves justice because the lives of the Benue people also matter.
