The Benue state government has cancelled the mass burial it planned for the victims of a fresh herdsmen/farmers clash in Omusu village in Okpokwu Local Government Area of the state which has left 24 people dead.
Recall that during governor Samuel Ortom's visit to the affected community in Okpokwu local government, he revealed that the mass burial will hold Friday, 16th march.

His Chief Press Secretary, Mr Terver Akase announced the cancellation of the mass burial in a Facebook post urging Benue people to spare a moment and pray for the victims as a church service followed by burial of the victims will take place on Thursday next week in Okpokwu local government.

His post read;

There won't be mass burial of victims of the Fulani herdsmen attacks in Okpokwu tomorrow. A church service followed by burial of the victims will take place on Thursday next week in Okpokwu.
Pls spare a moment tonight and pray for the innocent souls.

Lasgidi Online could not ascertain the real reason for the cancellation of the mass burial but there are online reports that it may be cancelled because of the president's visit to the state next week Monday.
