Police Stops Peace Corps Members From Entering Their Office In Abuja (Photos)

Well armed police officers numbering about 500 yesterday were deployed to the Nigerian Peace Corps headquarters in Abuja to prevent them from entering into their office.
According to a report by Andyson Iji Egbodo, the Nigeria Peace Corps national headquarters has been under lock and key for over a year now by the police. All judicial pronouncements issued by courts of competent jurisdiction to the police to unseal the Corps headquarters fell on deaf ears.
Personnel of the Corps led by their indefatigable National Commandant, Dr Dickson Akoh walked into the edifice to reclaim their head office today in Abuja and in company of many members of several civil society groups including Mr Charles Oputa AKA Charley Boy.
Few hours after, the Inspector General of Nigerian Police allegedly acting on orders from above, deployed his well armed men to the Corps headquarters. Unconfirmed reports have it that several Peace Corps officers and civil society group members were heavily brutalized.
