Newly sworn in Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom has stated that his administration would be anchored on five pillars, including good governance, agricultural and infrastructural development, promotion of mathematics and engineering, gender equality, youths and disabled persons development.

The Governor also promised to recover all funds allegedly misappropriated by the immediate past governor, Gabriel Suswam led administration.

Ortom who stated this yesterday in Makurdi, the state capital, shortly after being sworn-in as the fifth executive Governor of the state, said his administration would use every legitimate means to recover the looted treasures of the state.

He said, “We will use every available measure to recover the looted treasures of our state; never again will we allow individuals to corner our collective wealth”.

While lamenting the huge backlog of unpaid salaries and pensions left behind by the Suswam administration, Governor Ortom said his administration would take decisive steps to offset the debt.

He further stated that the administration would encourage the growth of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises in order to exploit the full potentials of the people and the state for sustainable growth and development

“Moreover in our quest to ensure strict adherence to transparency and accountability in governance, there would be zero tolerance for corruption in this administration, no longer will self seeking persons hold our state to ransom. 
“I want to also sound that any government official in our administration caught misappropriating funds or is seen to constitute him or herself as a conduit pipe, after fishing you out, we will  punished and disgrace you out of office”, he said.
