Governor Samuel Ortom yesterday recommended apprenticeship scheme to youths as panacea for unemployment.

He spoke in Kaduna after being conducted round the premises of the Northern Regional Headquarters of Nezam Transport Nigeria Limited by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Terna Hembah.

Governor Ortom told the youths most of who are staff of the haulage outfit that Mr. Hembah was a product of the apprenticeship scheme who was also one time Danfo driver in Lagos.

He urged them to be committed to providing dedicated service in which ever capacity they had the opportunity noting that if they did that they would prosper and that one day others would also serve them.

According to him the story of how he rose from humble beginnings to his present position also underscored the importance of the apprenticeship system and urged unemployed youths to attach themselves to those who had succeeded in their chosen professions and learn under them.

The Governor commended Mr. Hembah for his resilience and perseverance which have made him not only to become an international transporter but also a role model and major employment provider.

He explained that he visited the Chief Executive Officer so as to encourage him to sustain and even surpass his present accomplishments.

Mr. Hembah explained that he operated in Nigeria, Tanzania and Malawi and would soon move to Ghana adding that his outfit has employed hundreds of people most of them Benue State indigenes.
