I got this news since yesterday but didn't post it because it's a taboo in Tiv land for us to announce the death of the paramount ruler before the Tiv traditional council or the state government so I was waiting for them to confirm it before I could post.
The paramount ruler of the Tiv people in Benue State, the Tor Tiv, Dr. Alfred Akawe Torkula has died, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state confirmed the death of the first class ruler to newsmen this morning in Markurdi, the state capital.
He died of undisclosed ailment at a private hospital in Benue state, He died at age 71.
A new acting Tor Tiv has since been installed, may his soul rest in peace.'
