Obasanjo Charges Benue People To Support Ortom To Deliver On His Promises, Samuel Ortom, Benue, Benue News, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,
Former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has urged the people of Benue State to support Governor Samuel Ortom to fulfill the promises of his campaign promises.

Chief Obasanjo also enjoined farmers in the country irrespective of category to unite and provide food security, jobs and wealth for the country.

He made the call at a dinner organized for him by Governor Ortom at the new banquet hall of the Benue Peoples’ House, Makurdi.

Chief Obasanjo expressed confidence in the ability of Governor Ortom to deliver on selfless service to the State, urging the Governor to uphold the core values of his administration which he lists at every time.

Chief Obasanjo said when he heard Governor Ortom outline those values; he listened with rapt attention and prayed that so be it.

"I believe that Governor Ortom is sincere. I urge you people to constantly remind him of his promises and to support him to succeed,” he stated.

The former President said the nation's tertiary institutions were producing at least one million graduates every year and that governments at all levels lacked the capacity to absolve them, hence the need for the private sector to provide the needed jobs.

He described his mission to Benue State as a trip in search of knowledge and education, saying that such a venture should span from the cradle to the grave.

Chief Obasanjo acknowledged the contributions of Benue indigenes to his success in life particularly the late Chief Steve Akiga to whom he said he will remain eternally grateful.

In his remarks, Governor Ortom described Chief Obasanjo as a role model and inspiration who encouraged Nigerians to acquire knowledge at whatever age, position and attainment.

Governor Ortom said the large turnout of people to receive Chief Obasanjo was attestation to the love the people had for the former President.

High points of the event was the decoration of Chief Obasanjo in Benue colours by Governor Ortom.
The two leaders danced to the music provided by the Benue State Council for Arts and Culture.
