Playmaker David Silva and summer recruit Nolito were also on target in a very one-sided game that saw Pep Guardiola’s side hit the woodwork three times.
City were quick off the blocks in Romania as Aguero, who has now missed four of his last five penalties in Europe, saw his first spot kick saved by Florin Nita after eight minutes and then brushed the crossbar with another attempt on the 20th minute.
However, the Citizens surged ahead when Silva fired home after neat footwork by Raheem Sterling. Aguero then doubled the lead four minutes before halftime when he fired home from the edge of the area.
