Exclusive: Eyewitness Account On Blessing Idoko Brutality, The Lady Said To Be Beaten By Police On Orders Of Ortom
In reaction to an online report that the governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom directed the security operatives attached to him to beat up one Blessing Idoko at the Redeemed Christian Church of God Mercyland parish behind NUJ house Makurdi on Sunday, one GiddyMeek Afa IorChivir-DAboh on Facebook narrates how the whole thing happened.
According to him, he witnessed as men of the Nigeria Police Force Makurdi command slapped and flogged the said lady with a whip as he was coming back from church on that fateful Sunday.
Daboh went further to say Governor Samuel Ortom was not in sight when this incident happened it's untrue and unreasonable to think he ordered the uncivilized men to beat up the lady, he therefore said regardless of our differences, politically and religiously; let's stop promoting wrong information to destabilize the peace of our dear state and country.
He said:
The fact that I really appreciate the tremendous contributions of the Nigerian Police Force to the peace of the country. But at same time I am totally against their brutality against civilians. I witness Police brutality on a lady who was slapped n flogged mercilessly with a whip on my way baq from church at Redeem Christian Church of God, Ankpa Quarters Makurdi. To correct the purpostrous propaganda surrounding this incident, I want to say that the Governor was no where close when this happened. He was yet present at the venue of the thanksgiving. So it's untrue n unreasonable to think he ordered the uncivilized men to beat up the lady.
Regardless of our differences, politically n religiously; let's stop promoting wrong information to destabilize the peace of our dear state n country. The NPF need a big dose to gain sanity so they tolerate n treat with respect people of all gender. #SayNoToPoliceBrutality.
The Benue state social media trended with the news of the governor ordering his security operatives to beat up the said lady, a report which the Chief Press Secretary to governor Ortom, Terker Akase has denied but the citizens are finding it hard to believe.
Lasgidi Online hopes with this eyewitness account, the issue will be more clear now and investigation will be carried out to know why the police harassed the lady and not denting the governors name.
Meanwhile, below are photos of Blessing Idoko after the police left her.
