Following rape allegations against him, Netflix has fired Kevin Spacey, who is the star and executive producer of series, “House of Cards.”
Netflix also said it will not move forward with the release of the film “Gore” which has already been shot, featured and produced by Spacey.“Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” Netflix said in a statement Friday night.
“We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show.
“We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey.”
Media Rights Capital, the production company behind “House of Cards,” confirmed that Spacey is off the show.
“While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey’s behavior on the set of House of Cards, he has been suspended, effective immediately,” MRC said in a statement.
“MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus.”
Spacey came out as gay while apologizing to actor Adam Rapp who said he made a sexual advance on him at age 14.
Spacey has been accused by several men — including many who were underage at the time — of sexual harassment and assault.
Eight people who worked on “House of Cards” have reportedly accused Spacey of sexual harassment or assault.
