A new Chief Judge has been sworn-in for Benue State. He is Honourable Justice Adam Onum.
Performing the ceremony today at the New Banquet Hall of Benue Peoples House, Makurid, Governor Ortom said the appointment of the new Chief Judge was based on merit and in consonance with core values of his administration which include fairness, justice, transparency, integration among others.
He described Justice Onum as an erudite jurist whose knowledge and practice of law has been beyond reproach, stressing that he has been upright and fair in the discharge of his duties over the years.
The Governor expressed optimism that the new Chief Judge would open a new vista in the dispensation of justice, saying Justice Onum and his colleagues in the State have been among the best in the county.
He commended the Speaker and other members of the Benue State House of Assembly for the prompt screening and confirmation of Justice Onum as Chief Judge, stressing that the action underscores the harmonious working relationship that has existed between the executive and the legislature.
Responding, the Chief Judge who expressed appreciation to Governor Ortom for finding him worthy of the appointment, promised to uphold the tenets of an incorruptible justice system in the state.
